Trump's Latest Late Night Threats

Trump posted this on Truth Social at 2 A.M. this morning:

“Democrats are desperate to keep illegals, no matter how bad or dangerous they may be, in the Country. They want them to VOTE! That’s why they are fighting so hard to neutralize ICE. We will fight them all the way, and WIN.”

The threat he is legislating against barely exists. Michigan audited the entire 2024 presidential election and found 15 instances of noncitizen voting out of more than 5.7 million ballots cast. Georgia reviewed 8.2 million registered voters and found 20 noncitizens on the rolls. These are not the numbers of a crisis. They are the numbers of a man who needs an enemy.

And the President of the United States just woke up before 2 in the morning and told you who that enemy is. Not a foreign adversary. Not an economic rival. Democrats. Roughly half the American population. Your neighbors. Your family members. The people who vote differently than Donald Trump would like.

This is a president demanding Congress pass a bill that would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, gut mail-in balloting, and block millions of eligible Americans from participating in their own democracy. A bill that cannot reach 60 votes in the Senate. A bill his own Majority Leader has told him is dead. Trump’s response has been to threaten to stop signing all legislation until he gets it. On Monday he told Republicans in Memphis to skip Easter recess. “Don’t worry about Easter, going home. In fact, make this one for Jesus,” he said.

Critics have been direct about what this is really about. With Republicans widely expected to suffer heavy losses in the 2026 midterms, tightening voting requirements in a country where nearly half of residents do not own passports looks less like election security and more like a president trying to tilt the playing field before the votes are cast.

This is not normal.

This is not politics as usual.
